I wanted to focus on liberty and groundwork in our lesson today.

Shoulder-in is developing really nicely. I can also ask for more forward down while asking him to keep the lift in the chest. Haunches-in has been harder lately, but I was finding the ability to keep enough space between us where I can see his whole body and stay in the track. Really refining the draw whip cue by pulling it back and releasing it down when he steps out with the hind end.

At liberty, I learned I can be loud to get his focus but it doesn’t stress him out and helps him take the work seriously.

Heidi Potter, a Centered Riding Instructor and life long horse woman came out to collaborate with Meg today. They exchanged lessons and it was really informative to watch Meg teach someone the academic groundwork who is a successful instructor but has never done this type of work. Walking backwards puts you in a vulnerable position, and working with a horse who is only used to one human that is not you can be very challenging, for the student and teacher. But they worked together so seamlessly. It was so inspiring!
