Very busy and educational day. Yesterday I didn’t end up working Karl, and today he had his first myofascial release therapy! It was clear to Cathleen that he has been mechanically put in a position probably from his harness that stopped his hind end from extending. She suggested I allow him to stand with his back feed not square to bring pelvic awareness, and do short-strided poles. He’s left bent and the right hip comes further forward. He had so much release and such a good egg. In groundwork after he was so soft and fluid and stepping under the center of mass. Totally forward down and stretching in the trot and half-hearted attempt to resist once in the first change of direction to the right. We had wonderful shoulder-in and S-changes.

Also-I rode Imperador (Meg’s 6yo Lusitano) and it was so informative and fun. I rode a haunches-in but couldn’t quite get it on my own. Thinking about engaging my psoas and allowing my body to let go and flow with him. I don’t need to hold because that blocks the movement. I’m proud of myself for not beating up myself for how the ride went but for leaning into the experience and opportunity to learn — there is always one.
